There are many ways that you can get involved in the life of the church. We warmly welcome and encourage people from all walks of life to join in with the life we have here. On this page we give a flavour of each church’s life, and ways in which you can be a part of it.
St Mawes Church Life
Through the year St Mawes Church is involved greatly with our village community.
We host the village charity shop through the month of August in our Church Rooms. We run the village Youth Club through the dark evenings of the autumn and winter months. We serve the Parish supper in the Autumn and participate in the events that take place in the village and on the quay such as ‘Cream Tea on the Quay’, the RNLI service and the St Mawes Carnival. At Christmas time we are delighted to help with the switching on of the Harbour Lights, and with the Parish Council’s ‘Carols at the Castle’.
St Just in Roseland Church Life
Through the year St Just in Roseland Church and Gardens are a place of beauty, tranquillity, and serenity for visitors and residents alike. We care for and maintain the church and grounds so that people from all perspectives can find warmth, hospitality, and welcome. St Just in Roseland has a busy ministry of weddings and funerals, as well as a range of musical events. We also offer a programme of contemplative Quiet Days during the year, which are free of charge and open to all.
Joining in our Christian Life
Our church services, Quiet Days, and services of prayer are all part of the Christian way of life. The Christian life of prayer, worship and retreat is how we shape and nourish our hearts and souls. It is through these practices that we come to know our God, through the person of Jesus Christ. All people are welcome to join in as little or as much as they wish to, whether spiritually or practically. If you have questions about the faith, your life or your spiritual journey, someone from our Ministry team would be delighted to chat with you.
Joining in our Groups
Our groups and activities are a great way of meeting people, getting involved with projects, and socialising with others. Our Stitch and Chat group is perfect for those of us with crafty fingers, our ‘Sitting with Scripture’ group is great for those of us who have questions about the Bible, our Book Group is great for those of us who love a good read and a chat about it afterwards.
To be kept up to date with our monthly activities and groups, please sign up to our e-newsletter.
Joining in our Mission
We have many projects and activities and we believe that all people of this parish have gifts and skills which would be welcomed into the life of service. From helping us to be hospitable, to visiting people in need, to fundraising, to working with the church’s young people, there are many ways to join in.
There are also many roles and responsibilities that go on behind the scenes on a Sunday. If you feel able to help with the flowers, the brass cleaning, with serving coffee, or perhaps with reading or the intercessory prayers, we’d love to have you on board!
If you feel as though you’d like to be (or are called to be) involved with any aspect of our church and community life then please get in touch.
