Future for the Youth Club secured

We are delighted to confirm that our busy and popular Youth Club ‘The Window’ will continue to run after Arwen and William Folkes have moved on. The Youth Club will run until the end of March 2019 and then re-open in September under the management of a newly formed group of Parents and Church Members.

Rhian Sawle, Rachel Gray and John Burnett have stepped forward to undertake all the necessary training and responsibilities for running the sessions and will be supported by Hilary Mimpriss (Churchwarden St Mawes) and Sue Peake Young (Pastoral Outreach Worker for the Church). In addition, many parent volunteers have offered to continue to help supervise sessions and we are so grateful for all their help in providing a safe and fun social space for the young people in the parish.

The new committee met for the first time two weeks ago and the Church Council has allocated the funding for the rest of this year as it recognises the importance of this project for the wider community. ‘We simply want parishioners of all ages to know that they are welcome through the doors of these churches’.

We will be writing to all the parents of existing members and look forward to welcoming future generations from Septembers onwards. For further information please contact Sue Peake Young at pastoral@stjustanstmawes.org.uk.

NB: The Youth Club is for young people of the parish aged 10-15 and opens in the months when the evenings are dark. The Club is located in the St Mawes Church rooms on Friday evenings 7-9pm and is free to enter with a tuck shop available.
